FEU celebrates 83rd founding anniversary

Far Eastern University celebrates its 83rd Founding Anniversary with the theme “A Green FEU for a Golden Tomorrow”.

Official activities during this anniversary week (January 17-21, 2011) will focus on saving the environment and the impact of technology.

UPDATE (January 21): The FEU Concert dubbed Concierto Piyu was cancelled due to unexpected rainfall. There’s an ongoing proposal to reschedule the event to February. Vice Ganda, Pupil and Callalily were all present at the time of the cancellation. Accordingly, the two bands’ talent fees were non-refundable.

January 17

  • FEU officials will honor the memory of Dr. Nicanor Reyes Sr. with the traditional Floral Offering at his grave in the Manila Memorial Park in ParaƱaque, with separate masses in the FEU Manila Chapel and FEU Makati Multi-Purpose Hall and a commemorative offering at the Founder’s Marker.
  • A special four day blood letting competition will be held at the Pavilion.

January 18

  • The Teachers’ Academy presents the next installment of the Dr. Nicanor Reyes Memorial Lecture Series. Dr. Gregory Tangonan, Director of the Congressional Commission on Science and Technology, and Engineering will discuss “Strategy for improving S&T Competitiveness in the Country” in the University Conference Center from 9:30am to 10:30am.
  • IABF will present a special lecture titled “Current Status of the Environments and its Impact on Business” from 10:00am to 12:00am at the FEU Auditorium, while FEU Makati opens an Environmental Science Exhibit.

January 19

  • FEU Makati will host an Academic Quiz Contest from 9am to 12am.
  • Some of the best works from IARFA students will be exhibited at the Technology Building’s  ground floor starting at  3pm.
  • ACP3 will hold a “Prayer for the Environment” at the Founder's Marker from 5:30 to 6:30pm, while the Fusion of the Arts 3 will take place at the FEU Plaza from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
  • The Community Service Entrep-Mall Part 2 happens in the Pavilion.

January 20

  • FEU Makati will host a Business and IT Lecture starting 9am, a Symposium on Climate Change at 1pm and a Business Case Analysis and Presentation Competition among MBA students from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
  • FEU Manila will be home to the PElympics 2011 and a special lecture from Dean Felicidad Elegado. Outstanding faculty and employees will be honored at the Recognition Awards in the FEU Auditorium and the ITHM will have a “Black Tie Event” at the FEU Plaza starting 6pm.

January 21
  • IE will hold a Webminar starting 7:30am at EB 207 and a forum on Population Control will be conducted at the UCC from 10:30 to 12:00pm.
  • IARFA hosts A Green Arki/Art Forum at the 9th floor of the Tech Building starting 2pm, Creative Therapies at Pavilion 2 from 3:00 to 5:00pm.
  • FEU Makati's activities in the final day include the PE Extravaganza starting 9am, Barrio Fiesta at the campus canteen from 12:00pm to 1pm and the English Festival from 1pm to 6pm.
  • The annual FEU Manila Concert  will start 6pm featuring several well-known bands like Callalily and Pupil. The concert is made possible by the FEU Administration, FEUCSO, IAS-SC, IABF-SC, IN-SC, IARFA-SC, IE-SC and IL-SC.
