No classes declared on June 30th

Aside from the June 24 holiday celebration in Manila, as the city celebrates its 439th foundation day, returning students will be enjoying yet another day off from school as President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has just declared President-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III's inauguration on June 30 (Wednesday) a special non-working holiday nationwide. Presidential Management Staff chief Elena Bautista has said that presidential spokesperson Ricardo Saludo will issue an official statement about the holiday declaration.

The oath taking and inaugural address will be held at the traditional site -- Quirino Grandstand in Manila where Aquino, revealed that his inaugural speech will focus on the state of the country in the past, present and future, He is to emphasize to the people that the future of the country is a product of everyone's cooperation. Vice President-elect Jejomar C. Binay will also take his oath of office in the same venue.

Aquino plans to have a working lunch after the inauguration, followed by the inaugural Cabinet meeting at the Palace, and the Vin d’Honneur - a reception given to the diplomatic corps at the Palace by 6 p.m. and instead of grand inauguration ball, a celebration later on in the day will be held at the Quezon City Memorial Circle which is open to the public.
