2009 Tamaraw Barristers’ Send off

The FEU Law community led by its Central Bar Operations sends-off its barristers Saturday at the Far Eastern University Manila campus, where 70 FEU Law graduates will take the Bar Exam on the first Sunday of September at the De La Salle University in Taft, Manila. The annual bar examination is set for four Sundays of the month (September 6, 13, 20, and 27). The send off  program started with a Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Joseph Xin Lu with the FEU ministry; and followed by a Pep Talk attended by the Barristers, President Lydia Echauz,  VPAA Miguel Carpio, Institute of Law Dean Andres Bautista and Associate Dean Vivian Paguirigan and 2008 Bar Passer, Atty. Jay Visto also from FEU. President Echauz and IL Dean Bautista expressed confidence with the FEU Barristers’ arduous yet fulfilling journey to conquer the bar. President Echauz said that FEU’s core values are the proper pointers for the Barristers, (F)ortitude for moral courage, (E)xcellence especially in the use of grammar while answering the examinations and (U)prightness in taking the exam and in future endeavors; further the president cited that she is looking for a 100% percent passing rate, which was answered by a thunderous cheer by the Barristers themselves.

FEU Law class 2009 valedictorian commented on how he feels at that day said, “My mindset is just to enjoy the activity, after all we (the barristers) have already prepared (for the bar).”
The send off ceremonies has been a practice of all law schools, including FEU-IL to show utmost support for the barristers as they take the bar examinations.
“The FEU community prays for you, my personal prayers for you for the four Sundays” – President Lydia Echauz
Note: there will be a total of 6,080 law graduates who will be taking the bar exam this year; the Bar Examination Committee is chaired by Supreme Court Associate Justice Eduardo Nachura. FEU’s Bar Passing rate last year (2008) was 43%, way above the national passing rate of only 21%.
