Vote Earth 2009!

REDeem FEU with SAMASA FEU Party Alliance (Manila, Philippines) joins 1,858 cities, towns and municipalities in 81 countries for Earth Hour 2009. At exactly 8:30pm on Saturday 28th of March, people from all corners of the world will turn off their lights for one hour - Earth Hour - and cast their vote for action on climate change. Anybody can participate and join together with millions of people across the globe celebrating Earth Hour.

Earth Hour is about taking simple steps everyday that collectively reduce carbon emissions – from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby.

Here are 10 different ways to spend Earth Hour and reduce your carbon footprint:

1. Attend a local Earth Hour event or organise your own by throwing an Earth Hour street party with your neighbours
2. Gather family & friends for a night picnic in your local park and look at the stars
3. Enjoy a family dinner by candlelight
4. Organise a treasure hunt in the dark
5. Take the dog for a night walk
6. Have a candle-lit bath
7. Sit in the dark and share stories
8. Organise a family night playing board games
9. Share a romantic night in with your loved one
10. Upload your ‘on the night’ photos and videos to flickr and YouTube respectively, and then add them to the
Earth Hour flickr group and the global YouTube group.

Make a stand! Be part of history in the making! Vote Earth!

It's really interesting to have this kind of event, if that's how we may call it. Count me in. This is the simplest yet the most I can do to help the world, even just for an hour. I am pretty sure that I will be the only one in this place (Xiangfan, Hubei, China) who will participate.

But what's confusing is that; Should I turn off all my appliances/light? or just unplug appliances that are on stand by?

"BUSINESSES TURNING OFF THEIR LIGHTS WHEN THEIR OFFICES ARE EMPTY"

Will they not operate on that period of time? or just turn off the lights or something while doing business? and of course, I have never heard of businesses leaving lights ON when the office is empty. I will not elaborate more on this.

Number 10 of your "10 DIFFERENT WAYS TO SPEND EARTH HOUR"-

This talks about what we could do on the said time. It contradicts to what you really are saying. "households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby." then you are telling us that we can upload photos on that hour? How can we upload pictures if we don't plug-in the computer? I know iPhone/iTouch/Mobile can be used to upload such, but what if people do not have one?

So what should we really do? This blog lacks information. :)
