The second round of UAAP Volleyball Women eliminations ended last Sunday at the The Arena in San Juan with a huge crowd as La Salle defeated FEU via four sets (25-21, 25-12, 22-25, 25-18 ) thus becoming the top seeded team in the league before going into the final four. La Salle got a help from a great performance by their team leader Manilla Santos together with stunning plays from Jaqueline Alarca, Stephanie Mercado, and Charleen Abigail Cruz.
Cherry May Vivas on the FEU side was the one who led the Tamaraws in the offensive. Rachel Anne Daquis, Mica Morada and Shaira Gonzales were almost quiet in the game, to compare with other matches they had, as the defense of La Salle was particularly after them. In the First Match, Ateneo won over UE in four sets also, though the game has no bearing, statistically speaking, the crowd in the gym still enjoyed what they've watched especially when cainglet, who is a crowd favorite, had an equally stunning performance albeit a rookie in the league.
Before proceeding to the final four games, UST and Adamson must face each other first in the playoff on February 18 to determine who shall be placed on the third and fourth slot respectively and what team they will be playing in the semis, whether FEU or La Salle on February 25. The fourth spot shall be facing La Salle being in the first rank and the third rank has to face FEU. Both La Salle and FEU has a twice to beat advantage in the semi final round.
