UAAP 73 back in action

Back from holiday break, UAAP 73 resumes this January 2011 with three sports commencing action for the first time this season while three others entering pivotal stages. UAAP 73 Chess, hosted by Far Eastern University will start on January 8 at the FEU Mini-Auditorium. The FEU Men's Chess team, under Grandmaster Jayson Gonzales is eyeing for a historic 5-peat while its women counterpart guns for a back-to-back championship this year. Meanwhile, Tennis will also begin that day with defending champion La Salle Lady Archers facing University of the Philippines and Season 72 runner up UST Tigresses goes up against Ateneo at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center. UAAP 73 Football, hosted by Ateneo de Manila University kicks off the following weekend (January 16) at the Erenchum field in Ateneo campus with defending champion Far Eastern University Men’s Team tackling the UP Fighting Maroons in the AM schedule.

Competitions in volleyball, softball  and baseball heat up.

In men’s volleyball, titlist UST and perennial contender FEU (both with unblemished record in five outings) look to sustain their strong presence against National University and Adamson respectively at The Arena in San Juan. In women’s side, defending champ UST and league favorite Lady Archers (both likewise undefeated thus far) will each face National U and University of the East respectively. see volleyball second round schedule

The softball teams, led by unbeaten Adamson Lady Falcons, start their respective second round campaigns on the same date at the Rosario Field.

It will be the turn of the baseball squads headed by spotless UST Tigers to take the diamond of the Rizal Memorial the next day for their second phase of competition.
