The FEU Main Campus, now 82 years old is looking younger than ever. Aside from the award-winning Art Deco buildings, magnificent paintings and sculptures designed by National Artists, the first ever Nursing Virtual Laboratory in the Philippines, to name a few, the school has added new features particularly, the NRH Park (a sitting garden) in front of the founder’s statue created by foremost young sculptor Peter de Guzman at the Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance, new pergolas were also installed which were designed by Landscape Architect Dolly Perez, and they can be considered extensions of the Student Pavilion in the same area. The pergolas were built around towering 50 years old Narra trees, having been planted upon the instruction of the founder, Dr. Nicanor Reyes Sr., in the early years of the University. The pergolas’ roofing is transparent, so as not to block the view of the tall trees.
Sitting in the classrooms in four buildings around the quadrangle has become even more comfortable. The four buildings have been renovated to make them more conducive venues for learning. The ceilings of all the classrooms in the Science building, Nicanor Reyes Hall and Arts building have been replaced and a fire sprinkler system has been installed in all floors of the building. The construction of a modern elevator in the Arts Building is also underway.
“With all the improvements done in various buildings and on the quadrangle, FEU has really become a refreshing place to study and work in.” -Prof. Vivian Estacio, director University Center for English Studies.
The featured video, perhaps is more than fitting to the graduating students and alumni, as a way for them to reminisce the beautiful experience they had during their college years in FEU.
