Green Archers on the losing end?

Adamson soared higher this time at the expense of the La Salle Green Archers as the second round of UAAP season 72 men’s basketball unfolds Thursday at the Araneta Coliseum. The Falcons revenged their bitter loss to the Archers in 61-55 win. Their first meet up was last July 26, when the Archers subdued the Falcons by a single point win in an overtime (64-63), arguably the most tight match of the previous round. But now it’s a complete turnaround, everything seems to be falling apart for La Salle which is yet to recuperate from the loss they had last Sunday from the Ateneo squad (76-72). They are now in two consecutive losing streak. Will they be able to catch up in the standing? To soon to tell though, but we’ll see a preview of that on Sunday as La Salle will face once more their archrival Ateneo Blue Eagles. With a 4-4 record now, the Archers (tied with UE) cannot afford to lose anymore. They have to win at least 4 out of 6 remaining games to have at least a good shot to the final 4 round. They need to pick up wins from the leading teams like Ateneo, FEU, and UST, while making it sure to beat the struggling teams, that’s UP and NU.

Meanwhile in the latter match, Ateneo defeated UE (80-75) grabbing again the solo lead of the league. From the start, the Blue Eagles were dominating the game, until UE scared them off from coming up to 20 points in the last minutes of the game but the warriors were short of stealing the win by just 5 points. The warriors were indeed affected by the suspension of their teammate Pari Lagas from the game they had against the FEU Tamaraws last Sunday. FEU’s Reil Cervantes was likewise suspended for one game by the UAAP board.
