Weber Amores' controversial blog

Weber Amores, FEUCSO (Far Eastern University Central Student Organization) President for AY 2008-2009 from the Sandigan party alliance made a blog concerning the annual concert held in FEU Grounds dubbed as "Concierto Piyu Otso Uno", in line with the university's 81st founding anniversary, drawing reactions from students, faculty and the school administrators wherein he made foul commentaries and even proclaimed himself vaingloriously as the "Highest Elected Student Official in FEU". While it is true, he should not have to carry the name of the organization to something as personal as his blog, that may to a certaint point be detrimental to the same.

Concierto Piyu Otso Uno: The Most Celebrated Tamaraw Concert of All Time

Posted by Weber on Jan 24, '09 5:12 PM for everyone

It is true that when you spend time in reaching the peak of your goals, you will succeed.

In summer of 2008, the Far Eastern University Central Student Organization (FEUCSO) dreamed of inviting the Parokya Ni Edgar (PNE) for the 81st Founding Anniversary Concert.

At that time, we were certain that they cost much but everything paved of when we were able to finalized the Memorandum Of Agreement in the second week of January 2009, to cater the PNE in FEU.

In January 23, 2009, the most anticipated concert shooked the grounds of the 'green and gold domain'.

Despite the hush and rush of the preparation and the fear that it might rain, the FEUCSO in coordination with the Institute Student Council Presidents and of course with the entire production staff of MassCom students in the Institute of Arts and Sciences, graced the best and the most expensive FEU concert of all time.

' The Concert ' (which budget I am not allowed to tell for reasons of confidentiality is well sourced out from the help of the Institute Student Councils and the FEUCSO) served as the benchmark of all concert performances in FEU.

FEU alumni and guests commented outstandingly, that the recently concluded 81st anniversary concert is the best of all time.

I have been in FEU for quite awhile and surely, the 'Concierto Piyu Otso Uno' has sweeped off the previous concerts. Seeing the thickness of the crowd from the stage, from afternoon straight 'till evening, I could tell to everyone that the event was trully a success. From 4 pm to 10 pm, the students stayed patiently as they awaited for their perfomers to entertain. Home-grown talents with guest bands; Tanya Markova,  Project, Lithium Amedi, Moonstar 88 and of course, the most awaited, Parokya ni Edgar boosted so much applause and generated so much energy from the crowd.

I shed a tear seeing a sea of 'tamaraw' enjoying the program and patiently waiting for the next performers.

I felt an electrfying quiver as I witnessed the crowd singing with Chito Miranda in every PNE song when the sounds fell off.

I trembled when Chito walked out of embarrassment because of technical mishap caused by students on the left wing of the stage (they were jumping and gliding through as they penetrate the area and stepped unto one of the most critical cable connection-the sound system).

I smiled and felt ease and comfort when he came back and finished his most sought after performance. The audience's gladness was felt all throughout the show.

As a side-dish, the student were even warned that they should not jump so to prevent disorder. Truth is, they should not jump because the FEU quad served as their 'deathbed'.

Fact: Under the FEU's quadrangle is a sewer connected to other sewerage pipes in Manila and that thing is not stable. And that if a pressure caused by thousands of students jumping is put on in, then it will collapse and of course, thousands of people will be hurt and the worst part is, people will die.

Good thing is, nobody got hurt and the feared thing that might happen did not happen. God is still good.

Despite some few glitches such as the following;

Glitch no.1: The sound system is scheduled to be installed at 7 am but the one in charge is commendably delinquent enough to disregard protocols so they installed it at 5 pm which caused delay. If only they followed us properly, then the PNE wouldn't have sacrificed cutting their songs to 6 only. Yes they finished 6 songs and not three as promised by Chito in the introduction of their performances. Thanks to the medley.

Glitch no. 2: Marshals are suppose to be marshals, and that's just it. In the recently concluded FEU concert 2009, some of the marshals acted as if they were part of the production staff. In nature, they were suppose to keep the security of the place together with the full-force-power of the security department. But most of them did not. Instead, they watched and some went up to the stage to mingle and take photos of the invited bands and guests.

Glitch no. 3: Most of the marshals were not able to eat. Its because most of them left after the event. They should've looked for me instead. Midnight snack was served in OSACS and not in the IAS conference room. My FEUCSO secretary was not informed that there is food in the office so maybe when people asked him, he just said there were no food anymore. SAD

Glitch no. 4: There is this very irritating woman, an FEU employee to be particular, who is under the CSD office of the university. She acted as if she is a very important human being. She brought her family and some other employees in the IAS Conference room where the guest bands were staying and demanded, YES SHE DEMANDED, to take pictures with the PNE. She even scolded my secretary and told him this statement; 'Hindi mo ba ko kilala'. Well, she also did the same to me. I was able to get her name. Sorry but it is condemning that she was given by her mother the name 'Cary'. HEHEHEShe should prepare herself, because she went off her way to stage a very irritating attitude in front of  the 'Highest Elected Student Official In FEU'. I thought that she should've known me first before she acted that way. Because, for sure, before January ends, I will get her off the university for good. I will submit a complaint against her misdemeanour. Straight to the President and the Chairman of FEU for not acting properly in accordance with the University's Policies. Yes. Employees have it too. Too bad she messed up with me, "a FEUCSO President". She may not be oriented how powerful I am and that she is an employee and I am a student. In every school in the world, students are the priority. Employees do not stand a chance to even slip their finger unto the given noun (priority).

Glitch no. 5: The FEU-Aero did not ask permission to get the Chinese visitors inside the VIP area. Ok, considering that they are our visitors, but hey, ask permission first. I hope they know it caused us, FEUCSO with the Production staff, the heck of minding where to put the guests who were suppose to sit in the area where the melamin-producers took. It was an embarrassment in our part. We are sorry for those who were not able to sit.

Glitch no. 6: The sound system caused by an array of stupid students who jumped and penetrated the left wing of the stage and snapped the cable off caused the whole of the production team disturbance. I was hoping that it would not happen but it did.

Glitch no. 7:  The Prod-staff were suppose to get paid for their efforts. That has been a tradition in the FEU's concert preparation. The marshals and the whole of the production team were suppose to get shirts for their service, but all did not get any but an ID that has the concert's backdrop in it.. I hope you guys understand that we spent too much for the budget of the entire event and that because it is too much, we were sorry not to produce more items for other necessary stuffs. Thanks for your help tho.

Glitch no. 8: Some VIPs got wet because of a silly student who threw out water in the guests area. Not in our control. I was on stage, and I saw it clear and surprisingly unusual. Also, inflated condoms and empty pet bottles were flying in mid-green-and-gold-air. I even saw  two books being thrown and a black bag which hit a tamaraw's face badly.

Glitch no. 9: The hosts were compensated but I'm not personally satisfied with it. In the perception of a public speaker like me, I am really not satisfied with their token of appreciation. It is cash, yes, but to me, it wasn't enough.

Glitch no. 10: 'Excuse me!' to one host who thanked Joey Tem (Former FEUCSO adviser) in full might on stage for a job well done. TO your information, he is not anymore the adviser of FEUCSO. I got him out of the organization for good. Thank Mr. Mateo D. Macalaguing instead, silly. Try to orient yourself well.

Glitch no. 11: Acknowledgements missed out a few important people. The hosts announced the credits and the people to acknowledge and thank. Would you believe, the script did not even include our adviser's name? It was so embarrasing. To Professor Mateo D. Macalaguing who's been so generous and helpful to us, I'm sorry in behalf of the entire production team, for missing out your name in the credits. I never got hold of the mic, had I managed to, I would've thanked your efforts. You know that Sir. Also, to my ever dearest org, the PEER Counselor's  Group missed the 'thanking' as well. I commend the efforts of the FEU-Peer headed by Dax Inting (Peer President and Officer of the IAS SC) and the guidance of our loving adviser, Mr. Danilo Talusan, RGC. We are very sorry the Production Team missed you out as well.. The rest of the groups and people we missed out to thank are as follows: The 'SHE', University Health Service with Dr. Destura, FEU-IN's Red Cross, FEU-Alumni, Marlups Catering, and the Drum and Buggle Corp. With all sincere apologies, we are very sorry that we missed your names out of the given list. We promise to keep up in the days to come. I will surely thank all of you in a public manner. We owe to you the success of the most successful FEU concert of all time.

...we thank all of you for making the event historical in nature. The success is surely shared in your behalf. Thank you very much.

Special Thanks to:

The Peer Counselors Group and to the org's adviser, REGISTERED GUIDANCE COUNSELOR, Mr. Danilo Talusan, for your constant support;

Institute Student Councils for the support (Marshals and other relevant expenses);

IAS Prod Staff;

Tony Ramos: Director of the Entire Event;

UHS for your constant support;

SANDIGAN Central Command;

FEU's home-grown talents, SAYAWIT 08 winners;

Mr. Zymon Bumatay of the FEU-Media Center for your generous approval in sharing photos for the documentation;

Dr. Adelaida Fronda, Dr. Marilou Cao and Dr. Marcon Espino for your Guidance;

Prof. Generoso Pamittan for your guidance;

Mr. Lionel "Nura" Cesora and Jasmine "Paquiao, Pacman" Basar, Award-winning comedians for your wonderful hosting ;

FEUCSO Committee Members for a job-well-done;

and of course to the FEUCSO, Mr. MAteo D. Macalaguing, adviser for everything.

P.S. : The VPAA Miguel Carpio told me that the success of the concert shall be considered as the determinant of the next concerts to come. A benchmark that is. Surely, we (FEUCSO with the entire production staff) made a very significant school year and that we were able to prove that we are BETTER than the PREVIOUS.

Kudos to the FEU community.

Kudos to; Project, Lithium Amedi, Tanya Markova, Moonstar 88, and the Parokya ni Edgar.

Kudos to FEUCSO and its supporters for an EVENT WELL DONE!

Truly, this year marks the 'BENCHMARK OF FEU STUDENT LEADERSHIP". Pass it ON!
